Introduction

Meet Dawn Bartow, a passionate Instructor at the Georgia Institute of EMS. With an astonishing 40 years in the EMS domain, 32 of which were spent on an ambulance, Dawn brings a wealth of real-world experience to the classroom.

Professional Background

Dawn's extensive qualifications include State of Georgia Instructor Coordinator, Georgia and National Registry Paramedic, K9 Medic, and a myriad of instructor roles for both AHA and the American Red Cross. Her diverse career pathway has seen her serving roles as a Paramedic, Event Medic, Set Medic, Trainer for the Women's Soccer Team, ER Tech, and firefighter. Her leadership skills shine through her previous roles as a Field Training Officer, Field Supervisor (Captain), and Lieutenant.

Outside the EMS universe, Dawn has dabbled in myriad fields ranging from US Army Engineering as a Topographic Surveyor to bartending. Her academic pursuits took her to Fayetteville Technical College for EMT training and Gwinnett Technical Institute for Paramedic qualification, and she also holds an associate degree of Science from Georgia Perimeter College.

Achievements and Affiliations

Dawn's dedication has been recognized with the 'Newton EMS Paramedic of the Year' and 'The State of Georgia Save Awards'. She's also proudly affiliated with IATSE, Local 479, and the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief.

Educator at Heart

Dawn has been nurturing the next generation of EMTs and AEMTs for a decade. One standout memory is her tireless work with a student facing challenges both academically and personally, eventually helping him flourish. She derives immense satisfaction from guiding students with learning and test anxiety, helping them find their true potential in the field.

Personal Interests

A devoted fan, Dawn loves cheering for the Green Bay Packers and UGA's Dawgs. She also indulges in golf, pool, drawing, and reading. And here's a fun tidbit: Once upon a time, Dawn sported long hair and was a frequent user of hot rollers!

Vision & Guidance

Dawn envisions a future EMS workforce that's better trained, thorough, and efficient. She's committed to ensuring students understand the rationale behind practices, fostering pride in their roles. Her golden advice for budding EMS professionals? "Treat everyone as you would want to be treated or as you would want your loved one treated."
