EMT / AEMT Combo Class Structure
Students will participate in many different learning activities in class. Lectures, discussions, presentations, quizzes, exams and games to reinforce learning are just a few examples of what to expect in class.
Online Class Activities
At Georgia Institute of EMS, we take great pride in our online learning strategies. Students will have the ability to participate in some online lectures 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Hands On Labs
Hands on labs are a vital part of EMT training. EMT's must be able to apply what they have learned in the classroom in order to save lives. At GaIEMS, we will help students develop hands on skills by offering skill labs and simulation exercises based on real life experiences in the field.
Field Clinical Training
Clinical training is often cited as being the funnest part of the course. Here, students will ride with an experienced EMT preceptor that will introduce them to working in the field working with actual patients.
Featured Class: Combo EMT/AEMT Course
Combining our award-winning EMT program with our Advanced EMT course gives participants the best of both worlds. Students choosing this option are given the ability to catapult their careers in EMS by starting at an Advanced level versus a basic level. This opens many more doors and opportunities, not to mention the ability to start off at a higher rate of pay.
The Combo Program, like our Traditional EMT Program, builds students in EMS by utilizing some of the most experienced faculty. Our Combo EMT / AEMT Program utilizes our 4 core areas of instruction: In-Class Learning, Hybrid / Online Learning, Hands-On Labs, and In-Field Clinical Learning.
The Traditional EMT Class typically meets two to four nights a month on campus. Students are also required to set aside an additional day a week for online participation. Online participation days are typically flexible as long as the student submits/completes assignments by the due date.
Please note that class days and times can vary per class. Each class will have a published calendar available for students to review before signing up.
After completing the EMT section, participants will progress directly into an AEMT program. Our Advanced EMT program will prepare students in performing advanced level skills and assessments in the field. This is the typical level preparing individuals for jobs in the 911 emergency services.
